Their role is to:
Attendance Ambassadors play a vital role in fostering a culture of excellent attendance within our school community. Selected from each year group, these individuals are chosen for their commendable attendance records, reflecting their commitment to learning and engagement in school activities. Their selection is not only an honour but also a significant responsibility, as they serve as role models for their peers.
Once appointed, Attendance Ambassadors are tasked with encouraging and supporting their peers in their journey towards improved attendance. By sharing personal experiences and strategies, they help to create an environment where attendance is seen as essential to success. Their unique position allows them to inspire their fellow students, promoting a mindset that values consistent attendance.
Attendance Ambassadors also collaborate closely with school leadership to implement various initiatives aimed at enhancing overall attendance figures. They play a crucial part in generating ideas and executing strategies that make attendance a shared goal across all classes. This partnership between students and staff fosters a united approach to overcoming attendance challenges.
Each week, Attendance Ambassadors have the important duty of updating attendance figures in the school community. They celebrate improvements, recognising and rewarding students who have demonstrated significant progress. These weekly highlights serve to motivate all students, reinforcing the message that regular school attendance is paramount to achieving academic success. Through their efforts, Attendance Ambassadors contribute significantly to creating a positive school environment where every student's presence is valued and encouraged.
Specific responsibilities:
Help the school attendance champion share the message of the importance of high attendance through our assemblies, school newsletters, school website and in class etc. They also update the school's attendance board every week.
Support the school attendance champion in identifying pupils with excellent and improved attendance every half term.
Discuss ideas for suitable rewards for excellent and improved attendance and complete pupil surveys to find out what most pupils in school would like.
Help organise half term reward activities for those who have achieved 100% attendance over a half term period.
Mentor other students to help them to improve their attendance.
